We recently bought this boat that had been sitting unmaintained in salt water for two years and found that the restoration work would be too much for us.
She has a 27' 7" centre line and a 10' beam. The galley area has 6' ceilings can sleep 5 people.
The good:
The fibreglass hull is still strong with no leaks or signs of osmosis. She was just pulled out and prepped for bottom paint and zincs.
The twin 350 ci Volvo Penta motors are in great shape. The engines fired up after sitting for those two years and purr like kittens. These are not the stock 170 HP motors but 290 HP with approximately 1000 hrs on them.
The interior cabin area is clean with no mould or mildew. The galley area has a 6' ceiling and overall very spacious
All the upholstery is clean with no rips or tears.
The electrical system is good with no signs of corrosion.
Currently stored on land.
The bad:
Two years of neglect have caused the Volvo Penta 290a legs to corrode to the point where they both need to be rebuilt and many of the parts replaced. We do have spare propellers.
The hydraulic steering system, and control lines need to be replaced.
The shifter and throttle cables need to be replaced.
These motors would need to be pulled out the boat for a better inspection of the bobtail and perhaps some routine maintenance.
We have the repair estimate from a local marine shop and are willing to share the full report with interested parties so that you can get a sense of what is required.
